Junior Chess Event – Preston Sun 7th Dec 2025

Venue: Our Ladies & St Edwards Parish Centre, 4 Marlborough Drive, PR2 9UE

Date: Sunday 7th Dec 13:00 till 16:00 ( Its definitely Sunday sorry for any confusion )

Lancashire junior chess is running a tournament for children aged 18 and under who are keen to play and improve their chess. Its a faster play format which means more matches and a shorter event than previous i.e. AFTERNOON ONLY

The matches will likely be around 5 – 7 minutes each player. TBC.

To attend, your child should be able to play basic chess, i.e. Understand the pieces, their moves and know the rules of castling, stalemate and checkmate.

It is an informal and fun afternoon, mainly match play with some light coaching for less experienced players.

There will be a £5 cash charge which covers venue, trophy, dbs costs. Any surplus goes towards Lancashire junior teams fund.

We WILL run a tuck shop run by volunteers / parents, so maybe send a couple of pounds. ( Sorry we did not do this on the 1st Nov but we do intend to do it for future events. More details will be provided here and on the emails sent out to guardians prior to the event )
