First round completed last night and with 2 GM’s and 2 IM’s in the mix, it will hopefully be a competitive Open section. Pick of the round, not because it was anything special, but represented a local hopeful Tom Leah against one of the IM’s. It seems Tom had a good opening, and was better at one point. However, as we know, Chess is cruel. One inaccurate move, normally followed by another and the difference between GMs, IMs and us mere mortals, is that when they pounce, it can be brutal
