A round up of the latest results for the various Lancashire teams taking part in the NCCU Championships.

As a reminder, in the first round of games in November and December, the U1650 dug out a great win against Yorkshire winning the encounter 6.5 – 5.5. The U2050 team suffered at the hands of a strong and experienced Cleveland team, going down 10.5 to 1.5.

The U1450 team on it’s first outing and comprising mainly of juniors put up a good fight but lost 10-2 to a stronger Manchester team.

Onto the next rounds. The U2050 started things off with a great victory over Yorkshire, winning 6.5-5.5. A great recovery from the large loss against Cleveland. The result hanging on (as always) to the last game to finish. Finally, the U1450 team also did battle against the old foe, Yorkshire at the Blackburn Crusaders Club. Mainly made up with youngsters, a few more of them got wins under their belt and Lancashire ran out winners in the end by the score of 7 to 5. Average age of the youngsters, around 12, so some hope for the future.

Special thanks to the Team captains, as it can be like “herding cats” trying to organise these matches.

Hoped to have some games to share – but seems no-one wants to share (hint to the players – lol)

Two more matches to play. The U1650 and U2050 do battle against Manchester sometime in March, best of luck to the team.

The U1450 now wait, as I am not 100% certain whether there are one or two nominations from NCCU for the national stages. If is it two, then Lancashire U1450 have qualified. It also means that the U1650 will have also qualified with Yorkshire losing both matches.
