As many players are enjoying the summer break, there are still plenty of opportunities for playing chess during August in Lancashire. The British Chess Championship is in full swing in Liverpool, we will look out for any interesting stories involving Lancashire players.
In the meantime, there are two congresses in August within Lancashire. First up is Lancaster Chess Congress, which grows from year to year. Details can be found on the dedicated link which will also take you to the dedicated website with all the details on how top enter. However, be quick, the congress runs August 15th thru 17th.
At the end of the month, in it’s usual spot for August Bank Holiday, is the Leyland Chess Congress. The 17th LEYLAND CHESS CONGRESS takes place Saturday 23rd August to Bank Holiday Monday 25th August 2025 at The Business Centre, South Ribble Borough Council Civic Centre, Leyland. PR25 1DH.
