Junior congress sections and guidance
Section Placement Guideline Rules
- Children that have played Chess at previous Lancashire junior chess events are given a “Lancashire chess rating” which pretty much lines up with ECF ratings
- Children with an ECF rating or “Lancashire chess rating” are grouped into sections regardless of age.
- Children that have neither rating in Year4 or below are placed into Green Pawns ( Tiny pawns )
- Children that have neither rating in Year5 or Year6 are placed into Pawns
- Children that have neither rating in Year7 or above are placed in Knights
Lanyard Colours
We have different coloured lanyards for each section to allow easier identification of children
- Yellow – An additional lanyard to indicate no photos
- Pink – Volunteers and coaches
- Tiny Pawns – Green
- Pawns – Red / Orange
- Knights – Blue
- Bishops – Purple
- Rooks – Black
- Queens – Silver
