Lancashire Junior Chess is running a Blitz Tournament for children aged 18 and under who enjoy fast and exciting chess!
Venue: Our Lady & St. Edwards Parish Centre, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 9UE
What is Blitz Chess?
Blitz Chess is a fast and exciting format where each player has just a few minutes for all their moves. It keeps the energy high, the games exciting and is great fun for all abilities!
To attend, your child should be able to play basic chess, i.e. understand the pieces, their moves and know the rules of checkmate, stalemate and castling.

Just 5 pounds to enter, payable online. There will be a cheap tuck shop run by parents, so maybe send a couple of pounds for sweets / crisps / pop etc.
Timetable
- 11:30 Setup and preparation, any helpers would be appreciated
- 12:00 Children arrive and register — simply pick up a colour coded lanyard with their name
- 12:15 Welcome meeting
- 12:30 Play starts
- Children will play around 9 short games throughout the afternoon, a short break after round 5
- 16:00 Play ends — Presentations and tidy up

Entry Fees: Entry cost £5 per person. Payment is online. Once you have completed the entry form you will be redirected to another page which will have the online payment link. Please ensure you make payment at the time as entry.
If you miss the link, you can pay via Please Pay £5 Entry Fee to Lancashire Chess Association. In the Note to Merchant add “Entry Fee for XXXXXXX” or something similar, so we can verify payment and know what the payment relates to.
