AGM & Subscriptions

The Lancashire Chess Association AGM took place on 3 January. The minutes offer a comprehensive summary of our progress in both County and Junior chess activities.

Key Update for Club Secretaries: Annual subscription fees have been increased slightly from £20 to £25. This change is necessary to avoid a loss in the current season. Our Treasurer, Carl Tillotson, will be in touch to arrange payment.

County Chess Highlights

Recent matches have seen some exceptional performances across our teams:

Team Opponent Result Notes
U1650 Yorkshire Win 6.5 – 5.5 Dominated top 4 boards (3.5 pts).
U1450 Manchester Loss 10 – 2 Close games; juniors held up well in long play.
U2050 Yorkshire Win 6.5 – 5.5 Out-graded on every board; outstanding result.
U1450 Yorkshire Win 7 – 5 Brilliant performance by our junior players.

A special mention goes to 13-year-old Max Fyson, who defeated Jamie Heritage (graded 2174) with the black pieces on board 1.

Captaincy Opportunity: We are currently seeking a new volunteer to captain the U2050 team to assist Richard Smith. If you can help, please contact r.smith56@btinternet.com.
